"Now you will learn the proper stance for Dueling. One leg should be a little bit in front of the other, both knees slightly bent. One hand should be behind you and held up perfectly flat. The other hand will hold your wand at an angle so that it looks like a sword. Now, for homework and classwork, please try out this stance. You will receive ten House Points."

Marshall knew this one well, it was that of Muggle dueling and fencing... He had once looked onto a match where two duelers (muggles) used swords almost as though they were waving wands... He had listened to Jenn carefully and knew how to do it... "One leg should be a little bit in front of the other, both knees slightly bent," played over in his mind and he did so remembering the Muggles doing the very same. He held his hand behind his back flat like Jenn asked, then held out his wand just like the sword the muggles used in place of a wand. He looked down and had forgotten to bend his knees but corrected himself before Jenn came by to notice...

Athena took the position as well, and let a spell loose. It flew across the room and hit a dummy on the other side, square in the chest.

Rose placed her right foot a bit infront of the left leg, on account of she was right-handed. She bent her knees, feeling it was a bit like a karate stance she had learned a long while back. She took her left hand and brought it just behind her hip and held it flat. Her other hand gripped her wand tightly as she brought it to a little above her head at an angle.

Jenn smiled, pleased with how well the class was picking up on this. "Rose, excellent job! Ten Points to Hufflepuff!!" She turned to Marshall. "You may not think I saw you mess up a bit the first time, but I did. However, most people don't correct themselves as quickly as you do. Therefore, ten Points to Ravenclaw! Athena, you weren't instructed to use any magic at this stage. No, don't look embarassed! I'm only taking one Point off. nine more Points to Ravenclaw!"

"Aww." Athena looked a little upset. "When DO we get to use magic then?"

"I tend to put that off till the third or fourth lesson; I want the students to concentrate solely on their positions." She grinned.

"Excellent, Kv!" Jenn said with a smile. "However, as I told Athena, I'd prefer no spells just yet, even if you are ready. It is my experience that most students are not. Therefore, I shall award 9 Points to Gryffindor!!"

sorry I'm Late! *listens to the teachers instructions* Jess starts with her feet, putting them the way Proff. Jenn had showed. after that she put her hand flat behind her and held her wand out in front like a sword. I think I got it! She could just picture herself dueling away after a few more superb lessons from Jenn.

Fawkes took a spot away from everyone else, not wanting to make a fool oif himself in front of everyone. He followed Jenn's directions step-by-step. He parted his legs, putting one in front of the other, and bending his knees. 'This isn't so hard',he thought. Now he put one hand behind him, elp up flat. Now he placed his remaining hand, with the wand at an angle, attempting to make it like a sword. He thought he had done it,but also thought he must look weird. He glanced around the room, but luckily, nobody was watching.
